Hello. As a newbie, I have some questions.
I have MODX. As I want arranger function, I'm considering buying vArranger.

Here are my questions.

1) Do style files play fine on MODX? Will style files from companies other than Yamaha work as well?

2) Is it possible to load MODX instruments on vArranger and save them with style?

3) Is it possible to change MODX instruments with OTS function?

4) MODX uses midi channels(parts) 1-8 for local control, and channels 9-16 are for external control.
vArranger manual states that drums, perccussion, bass, and accompaniment instruments accupy channels 5-12.
Is it possible to switch these channels 5-12 to 9-16? In case I want to use MODX parts 1-8 for local control while playing styles with parts 9-16.

5) If I buy vArranger, can I use it on my pc and tablet at the same time?

Please let me know.

Dan

Hello,

I have a MODX too

1) Not all styles will sound good with all synthesizers. Especially the drums track that not always follow the GM mapping
I have added a MONTAGE mode in vArranger, that can be improved if there is some demand.

2) Yes, I have created an INS file, to help selecting MODX instruments from vArranger
https://www.varranger.com/vforum/index.php/topic,479.msg34743.html#msg34743
So we select instruments for the 8 styles tracks and SAVE the style

3) Yes, you can select instruments for melody tracks too, and save the sound preset

4) vArranger set the MODX to receive on the 16 midi channels, but you need to be careful to not select some few instruments that use internally many midi channels

5)  You can run vArranger on any computers when you plug the vArranger USB key

Dan

Dan, thanks for reply.

Do most of Yamaha style files work properly on MODX? I do not expect perfect compatibility.

And I think it's not enough answer for question no 4. Perhaps my explanation was bad.

I know MODX can recieve midi message on the 16 midi channels.

vArranger transmits midi message for backing tracks to midi ch 5-12, right?

Is it possible to route these midi channels from 5-12 to 9-16 on vArranger? Or I have to use another software to route midi channels?

If vArranger can transmit backing tracks to channels 9-16 and leave both hands parts empty, I can play MODX parts 1-8 on local. This will be useful.
