Is it possible to led feedback on Novation Launchkey? With Ableton Live it works.

Dan

Yes, It is possible.

For now, I have done it for the Korg nanokontrol 2, Novation SLMKII, Akai APC.

We need to search some information on LED feedback for the LaunchKey.

I just sent an email to Novation, maybe they will help

Dan

Novation are now in vacation ... Back in January

Dan

Hello Marcin,

Novation did not came back to me with any technical answer !

So we will try to hack it. Usually, it is easier if I have the keyboard here.

First of all, can you send me a screenshot of OPTIONS/MIDIPORTS with the Lanchkey plugged in?

Hi Dan,

i have the same problem with my Novation 61SL MKII.
Have you a good configuration for it?
Thanks.

Dan

Dan

I just sent you an update to test the Led Feedback for Novation Launchkey

You need to go on OPTIONS / MIDIPORTS and do the following:

MIDI IN 1 :  Launchkey 61
MIDI IN 2 (or MIDI IN 3 in your case, because you have AKAI MPK88 in MIDI IN 2) : MIDIIN2 (Launchkey 61)
Feedback led checked on MIDI IN 2 ( MIDI IN 3 in your specific case) : MIDIOUT2 (Launchkey 61)

This is purely experimental, because I don't have the Launchkey

Let me know if it is working.

I have set red color for buttons ON, and no leds for buttons OFF

Dan, you are great! It works.

I will make video how it is fantastic :-)

Dan

Amazing :)

I would love to see your video

MarcinV8,

How is the quality of the keybed??
Thanks,

Dan

Lee,

hmm.... price = quality

for piano playing is not good, but for organ, synths is OK. It's simple keyboard. Sliders and knobs are like toys, but not cheap toys. Pads are OK, better than on AKAI MPK88.

I have MPK88, it is very heavy. I wanted simple, cheap and lighter keys, so I bought Lanchkey and I don't regret.

Lanchkey is very good for vArranger. 3 function keys ">", "<", ">" allow me to switch between two midi outputs, so I can use the same sliders for volume in vArranger or drawbars in VST. Knobs, switches and PADs have 2 midi outputs, too.

MarcinV8,
Thank you for the details.
I currently have the CME UF 76.
A 76 key MIDI board with great key touch and aftertouch.
not quite enough switches...but works OK for now. Also it is no longer made so no support.
I may get a Novation SL61mk II.
Lee

MarcinV8

I played SL61mk II. Very good keyboard.

Hi Dan !

I can use a update to test the Led Feedback for Novation Launchkey "function" my self. Hardly, never used my Novation before,
because it didnt work out of the box. Thanks in advance !

Regards Michael

Dan

I did not know that you have a Novation Launchkey. So now you are 2 :)

mrgentleman

Thanks Dan for the update !

I'm going to test my novation tonight - let's see if I can use the keyboard in the future  :o
It could, maybe,  be my ultra lite - gig - configuration together with my Asus 2:1 Asus Transformer Book
T200 PC / tablet.  Why carry on unnecessary things - when you do not need in all circumstances

Dan, could you do green lights = off, red when it's on? Like on Tyros. There will be more light in dark place :-)

P.S. We have 3 colors: red, green and yellow. Maybe you can give us "do it yourself". I know, maybe this is hard work. Could you do that?

mrgentleman

Great !

What a improvement ! It works surprisingly good. The keyboard feels a bit cheap but useful in a small setup.
Undoubtedly a working concept ! - Satisfied as it is ! Thanka !
