Dan,
my 12 year old Asus laptop needs replacing. What do you
suggest I buy to replace it that will run vArranger properly.
Also, what version of vArranger will I need to run on a new laptop?
I can afford a good laptop.

Hello Deane,
you can realy use a laptop or a convertible notebook, it is ok and sounds good. I use a refurbished Lenovo Think pad x1 (ca. 400 EUR), Intel Core i5, 8 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD. Large Midi-Files run without noises, clicks or so on. You can put your SF2-Sounds on the SSD (... \vArranger2XG\vArrangerData\Sounds\...). My GM-Standard is now Orpheus-Soundfont (1.6 GB) and VST-WERSI-Sounds. vA2 (Version 1.20) takes the sound from the fast SSD and not from the RAM. So there is no need to have more RAM than 8 GB.
Perhaps it could help.
Best regards
Christoph
