I am by no means new to arranger keyboards, and I have had this software for only 24 hours, but the lack of a basic user guide in English is a little frustrating.

I have downloaded a translated guide, but that is for version 1.15, and it doesn't seem to enter into any detail (that I can see so far) to the basic operations.

Such as :- 5.34 The Player B, In this area you can upload mp3 files etc, But doesn t explain how this is achieved,

Is there a play list function

Where are the instructions to creating and saving registrations?

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious

Hi Stuart.

For now, what you have to know is the button SAVE   /   SAVE SONG

Give a name to your song, and select a folder to put it on. (You can write a new text if you want to put it in a new folder)

Please forget about the player B.

 :D ;D :)
OK, beginning to get the hang of it, just discovered the Sound Edit Channel boxs, Nice!!!!

Right 1, Right 2, Right 3 and Right 4, are they all playable from one input keyboard, if so how do you access them?

Also, in the Sound Edit Channel boxes, do I have to manually change the programme numbers, or is there another way of selecting them??

so many questions

Stewbow,

Hang in there it gets easier.  I converted that first manual because I was having the same problem as you. Unfortunately I don't have the time to keep up with all of Dan's changes as they come pretty quickly (a good thing).  My suggestion would be as follows:

1. Look through the manual and just get familiar with the pieces and parts.  Their are some changes in the new version but it is more functionality in my opinion than interface though there are some slight changes.

2. Search this forum for things you want to know.  I have found that about 80% of the time I can find an answer or at least get pointed in the right direction.

3. Post your questions here.  I have found this group and especially Dan to be responsive and very helpful.

I have found so far in my limited exploration that the Ketron sounds the best as it was what the program was made for.  I have found however that many of the Yamaha styles sound pretty good as well.  Many of them are pretty good out of the box while others may need to be tweaked to your taste.

I am not really a keyboard player per se so I use this for song writing ideas and making backing tracks.

Thanks,

Terry

Hi Stuart,

I created for you the Instrument Definition File of the PSR740.INS
On vArranger, press LOAD and select this file.  (do it only once ! This will import this file into your vArranger folder)
Then you will see a new screen with all the PSR740 instruments.
You can select any track of vArranger, and then select the instrument from this list.
This instrument screen can be found again, when you click on the INS button (on the top right of the sounds groups)

You can select a sound for RIGHT 1, RIGHT 2, RIGHT 3, RIGHT 4. This way, you can create a BIG layer of 4 instruments playing together (from one input)

To empty the RIGHT 4 track, select the right 4 track, and press OFF  (on the top left of the sounds groups)

You can edit tons of settings for each track such as volumes, reverb, splits... (SOUND EDIT screen)

Then you can SAVE, SAVE RIGHT SOUND. Give it a name and category.

There is tons of things to discover.... !!!!!!

That's really useful Dan, thanks :-*

I loaded an mp3 file into window B, how do i get it to play?

Also, is it possible to delete some of the existing sound names  from the sound groups?

Stuart

Dan do you have the instrument definition for the psr s710. Can't find it anywhere. Thanks

Dan

The only way to get the Player B starting is to assign a button or pc key to the START/STOP PLAYER B.
I think I will remove this feature, and replace it by a simple auto crossfade between mp3. what do you think about it?

I am working now on removing all the SD2 sounds if you don't use the Ketron SD2.
Then let the option to the user, so create it's own sound list.

No I don't have the INS of the Psr s710. Try googling...

The live setup that I use at the moment is a psr740 and an ipad playing mp3 backing tracks that I have created.
If I were to use this software in a live performance I would need an accessible list of my mp3s readily avaiable, being able to select any that I require very quickley, and also they must stop at the end and not go into the next one.

The app that I use on the IPad is called backtrax, if you could install a replica of this into your programme, for me it would be a great setup

Click on My Songs Folder... link, close to the Load button.
Create a new folder called ie. MP3
Then copy all your songs into this folder.
Reboot vArranger (or press the Refresh link)
You will see this new folder in your MY SONGS bar, as for styles and midifiles.

You can use the search bar to find a song very quickly

I am also working on a new Playlist feature.

stewbow

OK
done that
I can see the mp3 in the Player A window, how do get it to play, I can only see Play/Pause Player B in the controller set up!!!

Stuart

Dan

Forget about the Player B.
Select only the Player A.

To play the sound, just press START. The same button as Playing styles

Dan

If you want, there is an option to AutoStart the mp3 when you load it. see SAVE/STARTUP CONFIG (Autostart)

stewbow

I tried the start button, it did change to stop like I would expect it to do but no sound was there, The other PC audio seems to be working, the blue progress indicator didn't appear to be doing anything

Strange

Try rebooting the vArranger, and don't select the Player B. Just load MP3 files. And turn on your speackers
