I just found an adapter who will allow you to put a LCD screen on a microphone stand.

This is cool if you plug a second screen on your laptop as a sheet music stand who will automatically displays the score when you load a vArranger song

There is many cheap and lightweight LCD screens on the market today....

This is a great idea.  I have been looking for a way to attach my Ipad to my music stand that holds my laptop.  It would be great if there was an attachment that could be used with an existing music stand for that purpose.

By the way, have you given any more thought to allowing PDF files to be displayed?  That would sure solve one of my issues.

Also, what is your iPad software to display your scores?

Maybe vArranger can send a command by WiFi tu the iPad, so the score is loaded with the song?

Deane

I did not know about Iklip - good find.
I use a PDF reader called "Good Reader" to display my music lead sheet PDF files.  I have attached a small sample of my lead sheets as I use them on my Ipad.  I have thousands of them like this.

Very nice pdf lib !

Do you know the ForScore software?
http://www.forscoreapp.com/

It seems to not be only a PDF reader, but has some specific sheetmusic features.

It seems to be the leader on that domain

I will ask now to them if they can add a way to load a score by BlueTooth or Wifi...

Waw it should be cool !!!

Deane

Dan,
I have not seen ForScore.  What I look for in a PDF reader is the ability to organize with folders and add files to the folders easily.  Being able to search is also important.

It would be awesome if vArranger could load lead sheets on my Ipad via bluetooth.  Pretty neat idea.

Dan,
I downloaded Forscore and it looks ok.  I loaded about  50 songs in it and so far I like how it works.

Let's wait and see if we will get an answer from them.

Please, report any interesting things

Deane

Dan,
I needed a backup PDF reader but Forscore looks like a good one so far.

Do we really need external music display equipment.
Im trying to carry as little as possible and set up and pack up as quickly as possible.
My aim is to simply use my laptop for vArranger which has sheet music display capabilities anyway.
Do we need to set up and extra LCD monitor when your laptop is there to display the manuscript.

Dan
I asked if I resize the manuscript display to a larger size the next page turning (up/down) does not maintain the resized size.

Jon,
I am hoping Dan adds PDF capability to vArranger because all my thousands of music lead sheets are in PDF format.  My setup time with a laptop, an IPad, all stands, and my keyboard is only 10 minutes.

I am sure we can find a free software who convert your whole pdf folder to JPG in one click of a mouse.

Deane

Dan and Jon,
I am not interested in converting to jpg because the PDF files display much better.

Here is the answer from ForScore  :-\

QuoteHi Dan,

Thanks for your email—that sounds like an interesting idea, although it's not something we're able to commit to at this time. We don't have much experience with Bluetooth connectivity, so for the time being we're relying on Apple's GameKit framework which can't be used with desktop software. We recently released a major update to our app, so for now we have to keep our focus on fixing bugs and making sure the app is rock solid. Once that's done, we'll be sure to take a fresh look at this idea. Sorry about that, but thanks for your interest!

Sincerely,
MGS Development

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the update.  I have started using Forscore on my Ipad and I must say it is a very nice program.  Too bad they are not into the bluetooth thing.  There are a few issues with Forscore but they seem to be easy to work around.

Anyway,  I am pretty set with my PDF files on my Ipad.  They display extremely clean and clear which is important to me at my age.  I did try the jpeg files with vArranger but did not feel they displayed clearly as compared to my the PDFs on my Ipad.

In the end I have been using vArranger with my Ipad as a display system and it works very well for me so it is not a big deal.  Actually, right now I am not able to use vArranger because Ketron has not responded to ANY of my attempts to contact them and the new SD2 unit I have ordered is late getting to my dealer.  So I am in waiting mode until I get another Sd2 unit.
