Another Gig - but no Varranger

  I played a gig yesterday but had no vArranger to use.  I used my Tyros 4 and I really missed
the vArranger sounds.  There is something about the SD2 and vArranger that really makes me want to play. 
Something the Tyros 4 is missing.  I have another SD2 unit on order but it won't arrive for another week.
My SD2 Unit broke at a terrible time because I had a few days off from gigs and was all ready to get a lot
more songs setup for my gigs. 

By the way, as of today Ketron has NOT responded to several phone calls I have made to them.  There
support here in the US is almost non-existent.

I am shocked that people buy Ketron $5000.00 USD keyboard with the lack
of support they provide to customers.  It is bad enough when you have trouble with a $400.00 USD SD2 Unit.

I like the Yamaha Tyros 4 sound, very cool and smooth....

But I can only gig and make people dancing with Ketron sounds. I always try new keyboards as they come out, but I can't use them for live since I discovered Ketron. Not perfect, but more close to the truth...

It's sad that their support worldwide is not as good as the people need.

A good support to customers is to my eyes very important to create a long term relationship.

Maybe the best is to knock to their Italian door directly and tell them to help you

If someone want to open a good business in US, just open a Ketron repair center

Ketron should come here to the vArranger forum and see what real support means for end users.  Dan could teach them a lot.

Why not call them in September to ask them all your questions?

When is the holiday time in UK, USA, and worldwide?

UK varies depending on where in UK but generally first 2 weeks in July for Scotland and last 2 weeks in July for England.
Mainly when the schools start their holidays and the building, plumbing and joinery trade start their holidays

Good News!! My dealer has my SD2 unit and I should have it this week sometime.  Can't wait to get back to using vAranger.

You dont say exactly what setting up with VA you want to do?
You coud conect VA to you Tyros midi in cable if you want to play around with VA settings etc. ?
The sounds will be different but you can see what VA is sending to the Midi out?

I just found out from my dealer that the SD2 units will not arrive now for another
3 weeks!

Just to let you know - it is becoming a real nightmare trying to replace my broken SD2 unit without being overcharged a few companies that have them in stock.  I will let you know when I have a new one in hand.  I have several vendors notified about the serial number requirement and as soon as Ketron ships the SD2 units they will notify me. 

All this really points out the value of having "backup" gear ready to go if you are a gigging pro.  I am really impressed with the vArranger software and will continue to use it but I sure wish it did not depend on hardware supplied by a company like Ketron.

By the way, our trip to Europe is still in the planning stages.  We are trying to get affordable airfare for the trip.  Right now the fares are very high compared to our last trips.  The dates are still the same April and May of 2012.  I'll let you know when it firms up.

Because of the modest cost of the SD2 compared to an Audya/Tyros.
I have 2 x SD2 and 2 x laptops.

A bit of good news today.  I have purchased a SD2 Unit which is well outside the serial number group listed on Ketron's site and it should be here this week.

I sure hope this works out - it is in stock and should be shipped tomorrow.

IT'S HERE!!! I AM BACK!!! Yes, my SD2 unit arrived today and it sounds as great as I remembered.  I have three gigs this week and I will use it on two of them.  Tomorrow I will have to spend the day refreshing my memory and what I learned about vArranger and make sure all my songs come up and play as I expect them to play.   There is something about the vArranger setup that really makes me want to play.

Who is the dealer? At what price? What it's serial number? Can you try the sd_crash.mid to see if it's not crashing anymore (not in varranger)?

Seller is a major Ebay seller, price was 250 Euros, Serial number is 15704M.
No, I have not run the crash test - probably won't as long as it works properly.
I am sure glad I am able to use vArranger again.
