greetings to you all and thankyou to the members who have put up roland styles.

A tip which many of you most prob know.   No keyboard I have will play .kar files  so I changed the extension from .kar to .mid and they now play perfectly.  this is on a Roland EM-2000 no lyrics though. It only shows lyrics on midis with embedded lyrics.

The advice I am after is this. I am considering buying a Roland E.80(touch screen) from a music retailer who states it was a demo model.  the problem is they will not give any warranty on it.
I will have the opportunity to try it out in a few days time.  Is there anything I need to test to see if it is OK.
The original price was $8000 now  $2000.
thankyou for your time.
Mike.

Hello Mike,
You are here in a forum of the vArranger PC software.
This program allow you to play ROLAND, YAMAHA and KETRON styles directly.
I don't know if it is a good deal to buy a Roland E80 at 2000$

I had the Roland G70, which was the top of the line model before the E80.  The street price was more like $4000. If they were asking $8000, I see why they still have this.  The used price is around $1000 depending on condition.

I can see the store not giving a manufacturer warranty, but they should give you a 14 day in store option of a return if there is a problem, even at a 15% restocking fee.

The E-80, in it's day was a full featured board but be aware it is bulky and heavy(50 lbs).  It might be alright if you want a studio arranger keyboard with all the bells and whistles.  It would not be a good choice for vArranger.

Watch out

Mikee

thanks for your advice. it is much appreciated.
Mike.
