DISAPPEARING MOUSE POINTER

Periodically, only in vArranger, the mouse arrow on my mac book pro w/win7 will mysteriously disappear when I'm attempting to click and drag a function.

The only way to get it back is to exit out of vArranger and restarting. Sometimes I have to exit out of win7 and reboot.

Sometimes I can see the arrow at the very top and just above the vArranger screen. When I blindly move the arrow around on vArranger and click the mouse it will activate the function that it happens to fall on.

THE POINTER ONLY DISAPPEARS WHEN I'M ATTEMPTING TO CLICK & DRAG ON THE VARRANGER.

WHEN I POSITION THE POINTER ON A VARRANGER VOLUME LEVEL, FOR EXAMPLE, THE POINTER DISAPPEARS AS SOON AS I CLICK AND HOLD MY FINGER ON THE TRACK PAD, EVEN THOUGH I'M ABLE TO DRAG THE VOLUME LEVEL. THEN WHEN I RELEASE FROM CLICKING THE TRACK PAD THE POINTER COMES BACK INTO VIEW.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I RELEASE MY FINGER FROM HOLDING DOWN THE TRACK PAD, SOMETIMES THE POINTER WILL NOT COME BACK INTO VIEW, AND ONCE THAT HAPPENS, SHORT OF CLOSING AND RESTARTING VARRANGER, I HAVEN'T FOUND A WAY TO RESTORE THE POINTER.

THANKS,

JOHN

TBH I doubt it is an issue with vA...rather an issue with the mouse drivers and trackpad drivers conflicting when you try to use both. As these drivers are system (as in Windows OS) it requires a re-boot to clear the "logjam" so to speak. vA is just collateral damage, and it is NOT vA you are needing to re-boot, rather the OS itself.

But why is it happening only intermittently?

Could I connect a remote mouse to the Mac, and do you think that might help?

Thanks

John

Just one of those things with drivers on the OS - it happens..I suggest that in vA you get used to using one or the other for operation. In fact, why not try it...use JUST the mouse and run the same steps as you outlined in your OP and see what happens, unless I  miss my guess, I would suggest that you will not have a problem....And then use JUST the trackpad and its buttons (NO mouse at all) and see what happens.

EDIT: BTW - I am assuming the mouse is either a wired mouse, or the batteries are not low - low batteries can also cause these issues.

Dan

I intentionally hide the cursor when you move a fader.
But... it should be back when you release up the button.

I will check the code again

There you go, my doubt was unfounded  ;D

Sorry Pax, I mis spoke when I said "the mouse arrow on my Macbook pro disappears." I meant to say the track pad arrow disappears...

Like you said Dan, the CURSOR disappears when I move the fader. And sometimes, it doesn't reappear like it's supposed to.

The cursor also disappears when I click on the chorus slide bar, just like the faders. But, when I click on the chorus red and green circles at the top of the voices to change their levels, the fader does not go out of sight.

So the only 2 places on the vArranger screen where the cursor goes out of sight when I click the track pad is 1: when the CURSOR is directly over the fader button, and  2: when the cursor is directly over the tiny chorus button that slides left to right.

Thanks,

John

All good John, Dan is on to it so an answer should be forthcoming soon I would imagine  :)

Dan

I think the problem is the track pad driver that sends 2 messages of mouse button pressed, for only one message of mouse button released.

For the next coming version, I just have corrected this problem. I hope... :)

That was so funny & cool Pax when you said "DAN'S ON TO IT SO AN ANSWER SHOULD BE FORTHCOMING SOON, I WOULD IMAGINE."

Seriously though, over the past years you vArranger guys are used to, and have grown accustomed to expect this kind of service from Dan, after you have purchased his vArranger.
I've been using Ketron eqiuipment for over the past 25 years and I've grown used to getting very very verrrryy little support from Solton/Ketron. And I just can't get over having my questions and concerns consistently answered so promptly.. He's on to everything. Can you believe this guy logged in to my computer on Thanksgiving Day to help me with a problem?

I would have saved a ton of money if I had purchased the vArranger along with the SD-2 when it first came out, and I don't know when that was, but then I wouldn't be continually buying the upgraded Solten/Ketron models every other year they would come out. With the vArranger, Dan's upgrades are all included in the original price of the software. Not to mention musically using the vArranger has made me a stronger musician.

Thanks for including my MacBook trackpad issue in your next upgrade.

By the way, when the cursor doesn't come back into view, is there a quicker way to restore it than having to exit out of vArranger?

Thanks,

John

Dan

I hope to release the new version today.
Thank you for your kind words.

I am very proud to be able to work and share my passion with musicians all around the world.
Things like that were not possible just some years ago.
So thank you again for your confidence.

Dan
